Day 28

I woke up pretty early today and went to the market to stock up on my veggies and unexpectedly, the weather was really good today when it looked pretty stormy the night before. Therefore we decided to take this chance to explore Dalian once again. This time, we went to 星海公园 and walked all the way to 星海广场. First, we took the public bus, the BRT to 兴工街 and then took a tram to the park. The train looked pretty cool from outside, but it’s really stuffy and uncomfortable on the inside. But oh well… the park was pretty cool and there was even a small theme park in the park itself with a Farris wheel too. We took the Farris wheel for 15 bucks and it was rather disturbing how it creaked and moaned as it slowly moved us upwards. Really old I guess.. =x phew…

It was a long walk from the park to the square but a really nice walk along the whole stretch of beach. It seems that the beaches in Dalian are mostly made of coarse sand. The stretch had a Bali feeling due to the many attap sheds built along the way for souvenir shops. Chew yin and Sharon even dared to try out the bungee game. It may not look scary but according to my friends, it’s pretty scary. We got to see the all famous underwater world of Dalian. It’s strange how the underwater world is separated into 3 different buildings and all of them require separate entrance tickets.

Finally we arrived at the main feature of the square- the sculptures and the Giant book where one can climb upon. The views were great and we spent much time taking pictures there and creating cool effects.

After which we headed down the huge square and it was really beautiful and the ambience was stunning…. We managed to get a glimpse of the famous calligraphy works of the old folks who carry a huge brush and paint directly on the stone floor. A sight to behold…

Its pretty amazing how they do such beautiful strokes and with such precision. We headed back home, tired from the long day out… it was really eye opening..
