Finally @ Beijing

@ Beijing!

Well, we finally reached Beijing after our 49 days in Dalian...Beijing is pretty much a huge city... honestly it was not what I really expected it to be though.. =x... when we arrived at Beijing, we were once again greeted by rain... DX... as there were not enough buses, we were stuck at the airport for sumtime and when we finally could get about touring, the rain continued and onward to our first stop!

紫禁城

Its actually the palace of the Qing Dynasty Emperors, imagine walking in the very stone steps which emperors walk upon hundreds of years ago.... and this was the very place where much of history was made and a shooting spot where lots of TV dramas were filmed. well... pretty cool to see all those really ancient artifacts and the very throne where famous emperors have sat upon. The place is also known world wide as a protected architecture. well.. it was smaller then what i thought it would be like. surprising...

After which when we exited, we were surprised by the sight of 天安门. The famous Tian An Men square. With the all famous Chairman Mao portrait. There were even soldiers on patrol there. Afterwhich we went onto the 前门大街 and took pictures of the whole place and we finally went back to our hotel.

Day 2 @ Beijing

The second day we went to climb the great wall of China~ whoo.. seriously i'm really amazing by the architecture of it and how it meanders on and on for miles and miles. I didn manage to climb to the highest station of that stretch due to a lack of time. hahs.. but i managed to take tons of pictures.

After the great wall, we went to see the 13 tombs of the emperors of the Qing dynasty and photography was discouraged there due to superstition and out of respect of the dead. the tomb was pretty big too and there were many interesting stories which surround the emperors and the tombs.

moving on, we visited the summer palace where the emperors go to take a break during summer and enjoy themselves. The lake was beautiful...

Finally on Day 3 we got to see the long anticipated Bird nest stadium and the Water cube. As Designers we were thrilled to get a chance to see these famous buildings. Really cool from afar i guess, but as u go nearer, you get to see all the construction flaws and the space is actually quite empty. It was raining heavily, so it pretty much dampened our spirits. It was much smaller then what i had expected it to be as everything looked so much bigger on the Tv screen.

anyways, after standing in the rain for almost half an hour, we could finally enter the water cube and we shopped a little and bought some souveniors. the water cube was quite pretty with all those vibrant colours. It was pretty cool to be looking at the very pool where Micheal Phelps had won 8 gold medals. wow.

Next up was shopping! we shopped at the silk street, a building selling tons of stuff, especially lots of "branded" goods. I managed to get a ambercombie jacket and made my own chinese stamp. next it was back home.

The night was spent packing and spending time with friends...Honestly I'm really sad to leave China... especially when your with ur buddies....

We flew home the next day...
I hope that we dun have to be qurratined.... =X
Anyways, this immersion programme was really fruitful and I had TONS of fun with all my buddies... =) learnt lots, gained lots.... (not weight hopefully)
