When I woke up the day prior to the flight, I had this thought in my head:
“The same time tomorrow, I would already be at Changi airport…”
It’s really surreal…
When the day came, I was really worried if I had brought enough stuff for the entire trip, much of the things were unknown. I knew nothing about how the hostel would be, how the food would turn out et cetra because I’m a Vegetarian, therefore food was a main concern for me; knowing that it would be difficult to find food suitable for me.
BUT
I reckoned that it would be exciting exploring all those unknown and finding solutions to problems as they arise.
This was the second time that I had taken a plane, the first being a trip to America 6 years ago… whoa… a long time ago isn’t it?
It was a mixture of feelings, of fear and excitement.
I was lucky to be seated with friends of mine and the plane journey was pretty fun as we told jokes and discussed about the trip. The high pressure was hurting my ears badly but the bumpy landings were “fun”
We first touched down at Beijing airport for a transfer to a domestic flight to Dalian.
Four hours in Beijing.
It was here where I first got to taste food from China (besides the airplane meal). It was really expensive… 42 yuan for simply just a bowl of noodles and it was not pure vegetarian food too, just Vegetable soup with onions and noodles. It was not toooo bad, but I guess just tasted pretty different and heavy on the flavor.
After which, we boarded the bus to the plane. It was really cool. We got to walk up the staircase to enter the plane, pretty much like how you see celebrities or politicians do in television. We took this chance to take lots of pictures and it was around 12 degrees. Pretty cold for an average Singaporean, and there was even mist appearing whenever we spoke.
~*1 hour later*~
Finally we arrived in Dalian, greeted by HEAVY RAIN!!!
Gosh… the heavy rain made the cold really unbearable. I believed that the temperature was definitely below 10 degrees…whoo…but yet, the students gave us a warm welcome, sacrificing themselves by sheltering us with umbrellas.
It was really a tiring flight and when we were just wondering how the hostel would turn out, we got the shock of our lives.
OMG…
It simply looks like a hotel room I must say. Completely different from what we all imagined it to be. Even the toilet had marble tiles! Whoa!
Well that’s all for the departure.. =)
